- Dip. CNMT
- RMT
- MNZ
Doug has more than 24 years in massage therapy and has run this clinic for the same length of time. Alongside the practice, he spent 19 years as a senior lecturer at the NZ College of Massage in Auckland, teaching Neuromuscular Therapy to second and third year degree students — clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, and the biomechanical, biochemical and psychosocial sides of treatment.
After NZCM, Doug helped start the new programme at WINTEC in Hamilton as a Senior Lecturer, teaching NMT on the Level 6 Diploma of Remedial Massage. He also served almost four years as Education Officer on the Executive Committee for Massage Aotearoa NZ (MANZ), the national association for registered massage therapists, up until the September 2023 AGM.
At that AGM Doug received the Bill Wareham Award, given each year to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the massage profession in education, clinical professionalism, mentoring and support of MANZ. He now also runs his own workshops around the country.
Doug's particular interest is chronic soft tissue pain and related conditions: low back pain, headaches, migraines, TMJ dysfunction, breathing issues and stress-related concerns. He has extensive experience with pre and post surgical joint replacement, and a large client base living with inflammatory arthritic conditions and osteoarthritis. His approach looks at the parts of your daily routine that may be keeping the problem going.
